Personalized, Root-Cause, Integrative Medicine for Women 35+
Dr. Amber Vance
Naturopathic Doctor
Hi there!
I am a Menopause Society–certified practitioner and a licensed naturopathic doctor in Massachusetts, providing functional medicine care for women navigating perimenopause and menopause in Belmont and surrounding communities.
If you are experiencing fatigue, sleep disruption, weight changes, mood shifts, brain fog, cycle changes, or a general sense that you no longer feel like yourself, you are not alone—and you are not imagining it. These symptoms are common during the midlife transition, but they are not something you have to simply accept.
A Root-Cause Approach to Midlife Women’s Health
My practice is centered on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of perimenopause and menopause symptoms, rather than masking them. I take a whole-person, functional medicine approach, considering how physical, emotional, mental, social, and lifestyle factors interact to affect your health.
Care is evidence-informed, prevention-oriented, and fully personalized, with thoughtful use of laboratory testing and genetics when clinically appropriate. Treatment plans may include targeted nutrition strategies, lifestyle and stress-response support, movement guidance, and other integrative therapies tailored to your goals and values.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
You want a doctor who will treat all of you, not just your illness. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are trained to treat the whole person. This requires taking the time to listen and understand the genetic, environmental, and behavioral/lifestyle factors that can affect your health. At your initial appointment, you’ll spend up to an hour or more talking with your ND. 2. You want personalized treatment. NDs understand there is no one-size-fits-all treatment that works for everybody. After your visit with an ND, you’ll leave the doctor’s office with a treatment plan uniquely tailored to you, your health status, your health goals, and your lifestyle.
-
Both. The first visit is preferably in person for a proper assessment, but follow-up appointments can be virtual or in person.
-
The first visit is one hour and follow-up visits are typically ½ hour.
-
I typically recommend 3 visits in order to allow a treatment plan to be implemented or tweaked if necessary. I want to make sure you are completely comfortable and clear on your long-term plan and goals. I also recommend a follow-up at 6 months and a year to keep you on track or make changes as needed. As symptoms resolve, goals may change.
-
Everyone’s plan is different and will reflect your needs, short-term and long-term health goals. We will address symptoms and aim to identify the root cause, so upon synthesizing medical history, lifestyle information, labs and preferences, I can make recommendations that will support your optimal health. We always address the foundational pillars of health - Nutrition, Movement, Sleep, Stress Management and exposure to environmental toxins. Plans are collaborative and dynamic, so will change over time to best support you.
